New to Yoga?

What to expect

Welcome to B1 Yoga! All Yoga classes are upbeat, fun and liberating! Music is used in class and the home studio is usually warm, around 80 degrees, and each class will challenge and inspire you!!!
Brian offers personalized instruction to each student to ensure a safe, comfortable and effective practice. You don't have to worry if you've never done yoga before. Brian will help make sure you're doing everything in a safe way for your own, unique body.

Class starts off with brief meditation and chanting, to help you focus on what you want to achieve through your practice. Then you will progress through poses, called "asanas," which build strength, improve movement throughout your body, create greater flexibility and support alignment in the body. Throughout the practice, your teacher will encourage special attention to proper breathing techniques, so that you get the maximum benefit from your effort.
We do a lot of hands-on adjustments so that you can more deeply feel the pose in your body. Also, you get to choose the level of difficulty that matches your fitness and experience level. As you gain strength and confidence, you can find new challenges to inspire you.

Classes end with resting poses, more meditation, and some powerful thoughts to take with you.

Come a few minutes early to your first class so that you have time to fill out a form that will tell us a little more about you and please make sure that you notify the teacher of any injuries so that we can help you modify your yoga practice. After that, please be on time so that you can get the most out of your class time (and so that other students won't be disturbed).

What to wear

You will practice in bare feet. Wear clothing that is comfortable, but not baggy. Visible knees are great because they help him ensure you're moving in all the right ways.

What to bring

Mats and towels are available. It's a good idea to bring a bottle of water & a hand towel. The studio has a changing room & bathroom for your comfort and convenience.

Other thoughts

It's best to practice Yoga on an empty stomach, so try not to eat for two hours before you attend class. Also, achieving peace and focus is a goal of the Yoga practice, so please limit your talk as you enter and leave the studio.
